some people are just born with it

this house was love at first foot in the door… Jamie Laubhan-Oliver and her husband Larry Oliver are two of the most talented people I’ve ever known. Jamie is an art director for DHome/DWeddings and Larry is a senior designer for Neiman Marcus. They are both art directors and spend much of their days orchestrating amazing photoshoots. Their impeccable taste and blessed sample sale opportunities have turned their somewhat modest city townhome into a luxurious style haven.

Each detail of their home is so interesting: from the alligator skull, to the collection of keys from Jamie’s father mixed with the heap of wine corks, and an armless baby doll. Each one has a story. I can’t help but just walk around the house inquiring about each thing. It’s fascinating. One of my favorite pieces is an old scale that Larry pulled out of a dumpster that they turned into a very cool side table in the living room.

Don’t get me wrong…these two have got their fair share of Jonathan Adler and other notable fancies by their ability to mix it all up so well is a gift. I’m equally as envious of the great estate sale/dumpster finds as I am their chic designer pieces.

I have to tell you that one of the other endearing qualities about this couple is their peculiar side. Larry gave Jamie the set of horse teeth above for her birthday (I know you were wondering what that was!) and they are held by a white ceramic hand emerging from a white wall … such a sentimental guy. She of course loved them, as every wife would.

Last cool tidbit, the ceramic phonograph in the middle photo hooks up to your earbuds from your iPod. It projects a lovely low volume for perfect dinner parties. Jamie found that little gem at the Nest. It’s so super cool and most def on my Christmas list. You can find it here.

This is my kind of interior — a collection of details and pieces you love. I don’t believe in decorating for other people or putting out things that were gifts or hand-me-downs out of guilt. It should make you happy and this home makes me very happy!

Thank you Jamie and Larry!!
