it’s all up hill from here! This morning I’m leaving on a jet plane with some of my favorite folks Bret, of course, (resident fab photographer), Jason (paper guru) and John (official tour guide and foodie) to drop in on the city of Seattle. We’re amused with the weather reports… as we say farewell to a rainy and mild temperatures Dallas and turn to Seattle which is apparently having an unusual heat wave and none of their usual rain (we were hoping to cool off!). That’s neither here nor there, nothing can stop our excitement. We are so looking forward to a very special treat, meeting up with one of our favorite bloggers Uncle Beefy. Both Jason and I adore him and can’t wait. Will report back with as much fun as I can gather!!

it’s as serious as it looks… and twice as delicious. You just thought you needed a nap after Thanksgiving dinner but you clearly haven’t experienced Chris Madrid’s. I revisited this San Antonio institution on a trip to the hill country recently and felt that it was a must to swoon over. If you’re not familiar with the mouthwatering establishment, this is the home to the traditional bean burger which means refried beans, cheddar cheese, tortilla chips all on top of a huge beef patty (I added fresh jalapeños for a little extra kick — you could say I like things a tad spicy).

working on a full house… This is the extraordinary home of Jacqui Stoneman and Harry Myers. I ran into Jacqui on one of my weekly visits to White Elephant and found out she is the dealer of some of my favorite booths in WE. After I finished ranting about her great taste she said “well, you should see my home” and that was it, it was all over. Of course, I went on and on about the blog and shortly after we set a date to visit and photograph it. I was so excited I could hardly sleep the night before the shoot. I KNEW it was going to be ridiculously awesome and filled to the brim with greatness.
This painting above shows Jacqui’s keen sense of humor. She doesn’t take any of it too seriously and she’s a master at transforming an imperfection into art. She bought this piece at a sale (garage or estate, I can’t remember) and there was a hole in the chest…so, she places oh, so, perfectly a dart there. AND VOILA! I thought it was part of the artist’s original vision. LOVE THAT.

I’ll be honest, I am pretty darn picky… when it comes to letterpress but Jason McDaniel of MissingQPress might be even pickier. His passion for the craft is overwhelmingly apparent. Over the years he has acquired multiple presses, to be truthful, I’m not sure how many at this point. He began as a curious hobbyist and has blossomed into a full blown incredible stationer. In the past couple of years, he has created a substantial line of greeting cards for MissingQ that are available at chic boutiques like Stella Dallas, Paper & Chocolate and Avante Garden.

I wish I looked like this while lounging on my chaise… I’ve been dying to divulge this photo series for weeks now. For your viewing pleasure, I give you this glorious shoot by Manny Rodriguez (the photographer who shot my house for d*s). All photos were taken on location at an antique warehouse and were entirely just for fun, personal work. And what fun it is!! The first time I saw these images I was oohing and ahhing over them for days and wishing I could could get completely lost in this majestic world of fab clothes and heavenly heirlooms.
