makes for a whole lot of gorgeous. I was lucky enough a few weeks back to go to the Country Garden/Garden Party sale. It was so wonderful. I picked up a few chairs that I didn’t need but I absolutely love and a few other fab impulse buys but the best part of my visit was that I asked to see Portia’s home. OH MY.

don’t you just love that name? I stumbled across the online gallery Ashes & Milk a while back and just can’t get their collection out of my head. They are all so beautiful and dainty yet bold. From the about page of the website, “Our collection is a boutique of texture, organic materials, and nuances of white, brown, and gray.” — this could be why I have such appreciation for it, the lack of color and focus on texture are key ingredients to my living room. I’m glad I’m not the only one… who’s stuck on all this taxidermy business. I grew up in a house with mounted deer heads and pheasants and despised them, but suddenly — dunno, I find myself oohing and ahhing at every taxidermy piece I see. I drove through Austin last weekend on the way back from my 4th of July trip and stopped in what might be one of my new favorite stores, Mercury. It’s FILLED with so many amazing must haves and is truly about so much more than stuffed animals. It’s gorgeous. I shamelessly could buy every last thing in that store and savored every moment I was there. Check it out…you will definitely love it.

this a spot I hold near and dear… The Pearl Hotel, San Diego. We went there when it first opened about a year and a half ago and I LOVE this little boutique mid-century modern hotel. As with the staycation post, I’m all about great style for a reasonable price so this is one to put on your radar.
