it’s so hard to say… what my favorite Seattle store was but this one definitely tops the list. {Far4} is located downtown and we actually just stumbled upon it as we were walking. We happened to find it as we were walking the streets our first day which was kind of fun. We knew by a quick glance in the window it was something different and checked our list, of course it was on there.

The store was started by a family from Russia who now live in Seattle and is run by brother and sister duo Yuri and Jeanny. (I am told that Far4 in Russian means family and there just happen to be 4 in this family.) They opened a studio in Russia five years ago and began to make many of the things that you see in the store. All the ceramic and porcelain is designed by the family and produced in Russia. Their aesthetic is bold and graphic, the concepts behind most of the pieces are lovely but quirky and yet they are all white so they have a sense of sophistication and serenity to them.

I’m totally in love with these peanuts on the left. There was a big pile of them in the window and they really do look like packing peanuts but they are made of porcelain of course…very cool.

THIS was the first big thing I bought on the trip and probably the most special, I decided it was my gift to myself. It’s a small piece kind of resembling a phoenix about four inches tall called “Firebird”. They refer to this as a “netsuke” - a new term to me, which means a small carving out of porcelain or other materials. This little bit of sweetness was design by the father and is based on Russian fairy tales.

The flowers. The flowers. The flowers. So intricate, so beautiful. They were all over the store. I wish that I could buy a ton of them and put them in some sort of amazing bowl or something. They are just stunning.

I don’t know if you would notice at first glance but let me just point out that this bright blue piece of ceramic is a machine gun! And these are two of the four superstars, the very kind and incredibly talented, Yuri and Jeanny.

Yeah, the everyday items in porcelain were amazing… like the packing peanuts and galoshes.
The plates were so delicate and thin in a good way. The smallest flower, not shown, was my favorite. They also had good air conditioning! LOL.
what a great store!
This is all so beautiful! It has such a graceful delicacy.. what a find!
Beautiful! so elegant!!
