ooh la la

entry1

i would just die… to have this wall paper and more importantly, the guts to put it up. I wonder what my house would be like?? ( I digress…) It’s Jonathan Adler, a household fav of most design oriented people and it runs about 20 feet tall making a definite statement in the two story entry way in Tracy Taylor’s home. It’s stunning.

I met Tracy recently while she was designing my BFF Sarah’s new home and right away we clicked. I asked if I could photograph her home, she asked if she could sponsor the blog…all great things. In the meantime, I found a post on her fab wallpaper on the Nest’s blog, you can read it here. This gal is NOT afraid of color and I admire that. Clearly, I can’t take the leap myself so I live vicariously through amazing people like Tracy.

Enjoy…

living

The minute you walk in the door you’re hit with a combination of bold colors like orange and pink but then an over all soothing feel of grayish blue walls. Her home furnishings definitely have a vintage vibe, lots of mid-century pieces, pieces from her grandmother (who apparently had fabulous taste) but she often has a twist on them like an amazing fabric. On the flip side, the house is filled with very cool modern art work and the combination of it all hits the right balance.

Had to get the detail of this ridiculously amazing fabric.

This image on the right is Tracy’s kitchen. Yes, kitchen, complete with old school arcade game and guitar.

I have yet to talk about the actual architecture of homes on the blog but it’s worth mentioning that the entire backside of this home is floor to ceiling windows that face a beautiful creek and tons of foliage. Who doesn’t love that?

This bedroom is one of the most beautiful combinations of bold and rich yet light and airy I’ve ever seen. The walls are a calming blue color but the drapery is a super rich velvet in a deep blue hue. So lovely. This painting of her grandmother fits perfectly into this mod, restful space.

Again with the ballsy wallpaper, it’s flocked. It’s hot pink. It hands down makes the room…oh, that and the amazing pink velvet covered sofa.

So this is probably my most favorite thing in the house next to the wall paper. Again, way more out there than I think I could ever hang but I LOVE it. This is Tracy’s conference room in her home to conduct business for Eleven11. Again, similar palette to the bedroom but paired with more black and white. What I adore about this room is this lucite table and chairs and this uber over-the-top blue python fabric. It’s totally insane and even more fabulous in person. I’m sure these photos don’t do her justice. Tracy said she knew she could never use it for a client’s home but she knew she had to have it…so voila!

Thank you Tracy!

Normally I just look at the great photography on your blog, but this is such a great line, I’m going to read everything from now on…. “Again with the ballsy wallpaper, it’s flocked. It’s hot pink.”

I have actually been to Tracy’s house and it’s even more amazing in person… the wall paper is my absolute fav!!! I currently have my house on the market, originally because we are having a new baby and need more space, but now I really just want to sell it to move and put some of that awesome pink wallpaper SOMEWHERE in my house… I love it!

Tracy’s taste is amazing and she really can “get in to” whatever you like… if you live in the Dallas area and have a design problem big or small I’d call her - she rocks! (Plus - be brave and go for the wallpaper!!!)
