my mouth is watering… just thinking about the breakfast I had here. It was so odd but wow, it was good — some kind of hominy pork deliciousness!! We happened upon this place one Sunday morning and we just thought it looked cool so we stopped in to grab a bite. I think everything about La Condesa feels right. The dining room, the downstairs bar, the upstairs bar, all so very hip but the kinda hip that’s unpretentious, laid back, very Austin….. Anyway, a delicious donut, yummy bloody mary and my pork hominy delight later I was fat and oh-so happy. I highly recommend the brunch if you’re ever in the neighborhood.

The inhouse pastry chef Laura Sawicki makes all of the desserts, breads and pastries from scratch and they hit you with them right when you walk in the door. It would be a shame to go there and not have AT LEAST one.

So I’m lovin this whole interior design scene…a tad vintage but all the raw materials like the concrete and the wood ceiling make it both relaxed and hip. What I was most impressed was how the combination of it all blended with the Mexico City vibe. The floods of vivid color throughout from the bright blue walls to the truly fantastic mural really make it feel authentic. I will openly say I am not a fan of murals in restaurant design BUT I thought this one was absolutely gorgeous.

Malverde is the bar upstairs and it is also muy fab bar upstairs. Again, same feel but with a lot more greenery, video games and these incredible huge box planters that hang from the ceiling - I want those.

wish they had places like this in houston! soooo awesome from the donut to the decor.
The one in Dallas closed right??? Super sad. Had dinner there one night and really enjoyed. They were in Victory Park.
