la condesa

my mouth is watering… just thinking about the breakfast I had here. It was so odd but wow, it was good — some kind of hominy pork deliciousness!! We happened upon this place one Sunday morning and we just thought it looked cool so we stopped in to grab a bite. I think everything about La Condesa feels right. The dining room, the downstairs bar, the upstairs bar, all so very hip but the kinda hip that’s unpretentious, laid back, very Austin….. Anyway, a delicious donut, yummy bloody mary and my pork hominy delight later I was fat and oh-so happy. I highly recommend the brunch if you’re ever in the neighborhood.

don’t we all wish it was this easy to look young again… It’s been a while since I’ve shared before and afters, these are all from the home of Sarah Steele with the help and vision of design diva Tracy Martin Taylor (see her home here). Chair and bench found at Salvation Army and the barstools were picked up in Round Top! Enjoy!

live your life

SURFACE : A film from underneath from TU+ on Vimeo.

a bit of inspiration… and a reminder to enjoy every detail. I just thought this video was brilliant the moment I saw it and knew it had to be shared. The activity in this production is so real and wonderfully captured. I definitely appreciate the execution, design and the sound but above all I really respect the clever idea. It’s relatively low tech but it’s the genius idea of rethinking the way we look at things that we can all relate to that makes this stick with you. We should all do that more often - take a different more beautiful perspective on our daily activities. A little creativity to get you over the mid-week hump…

i have always considered myself lucky…Throughout my life I’ve had some amazing opportunities and met many remarkable individuals. Sometimes people come into your world and you think it’s for one reason (like their gorgeous home) and in fact it’s for something different entirely. I have been waiting to share this house with you for quite some time because I’m working on a follow-up post on this awe-inspiring family. I literally stumbled upon this family of women via a mere suggestion of Again Design Studio as I was starting my blog. At the time I visited this house (I am almost embarrassed to admit) I had no clue how incredible they are or how they would influence my life but you will have to hang on a bit longer for that post. It will no doubt blow your mind even more than this house (if you can imagine) but let’s start here. This is the home of my friend Judy Aldridge and it encompasses a stunning balance of rustic, feminine, modern, glam, bohemian…  take in all the goodness for yourself.
