what a lovely week

sunset-2

to wrap this up… in a way that gives you my two cents and even more reasons to visit Santa Fe. I think the hardest thing about being here is deciding where to eat and if that’s your biggest problem you’re doing pretty darn good. There are all the usual ridiculously good suspects and I’m listing those at the very bottom but I’ve included a few in here that you should definitely visit as well as my top things you must do in Santa Fe that you MAY or may not read about in the tourist guide.

I’ve included a couple of great sunsets I photographed and thought that would be a great finale to this wonderful week. Enjoy!

i know how it looks… but I’m really not THAT much of a burger fan but if it’s a good one - you betcha I’m in! We got the tip from Jan and Ka Yeung that this place was a must and then over and over again from locals it got rave reviews. So we ventured out Las Vegas Highway to check out this fantastic hamburger joint where we were sure to have a wait but it was well worth it.

i’ve visited this area a number of times… and I’ve been to the missions and the cathedrals but I’ve never gone to any of the pueblos. Since we are here for a week we decided to head up to Taos for the day and finally check one out. It was definitely not what I expected.

is captivating… Santos are pieces of New Mexican religious sculpture, painted and carved images of Saints. I have been enamored with them for quite some time now. Their faces, their eyes and hands have such a sweet and somewhat eerie charm to them. A friend (thank you Dana) suggested that we go to the Tesuque Flea Market while we were here. I’ve visited Santa Fe at least four times and never knew this little gem existed. It’s a small market located about 4 miles north of Santa Fe and we found so many great things there that we couldn’t live without.

a breath of fresh paint… I’m in beautiful Santa Fe for the week. My parents have joined us for the first few days and they are staying at Hotel St. Francis where they have just completed the most lovely renovation. It feels somewhat like a monastery. Stark. White. Strong but simple. Every detail is well thought through and enchanting. The music is somewhat meditative and extremely soothing. Santa Fe is a place to escape and regroup and I am recommending this hotel as a fantastic place to open the windows and take a deep breath of fresh air.
