wow! what a week… Thank you for the overwhelming and wonderful support for SWOON, the studio. I’m on cloud nine over the possibilities and new opportunities from just this week. I look forward to keeping you posted on how it develops via Twitter and Facebook. The studio will have it’s own blog and the spirit of style/SWOON will stay true the original intent of my passions in life outside of our design work at SWOON. Many thanks for your patience this week as this wonderful new piece of my life takes flight. All the best. xo Sam

i could not be more thrilled… to announce the formation of SWOON, the studio. I am venturing off to begin a new mutli-disciplinary design firm encompassing all of the wonderful graphic design, interiors and style that I love. You can read all the juicy stuff here in the press release that went out yesterday afternoon but in the meantime I wanted to share with all of you my new adventure.
attention all treasure hunters…and do-gooders. I’m so thrilled to share this home with you today. A few months back I was contacted by a talented young woman with a big heart, Lisa Robinson, about her new and fascinating project Dwell with Dignity. DWD is an organization supported by designers and like-minded helping hands from retailers to volunteers who come together to bring a fresh start for those in need. This group organizes, designs, shops, creates, negotiates, rethinks, repurposes and installs an entirely brand new designed living space for families working to escape poverty and homelessness. I met Lisa and her equally amazing partner Kim Turner in East Dallas to photograph her latest project with the Inter Faith Housing Coalition. I was fortunate enough to get to run into the lucky DWD dweller on her way out the door. It lifted my heart to see the impact this environment full of style has made on her life. She was not only touched but so willing to help and get involved! I have been anxious to spread the word ever since.
** I received an email this week from another one of my favorite gals, Leslie at Again and Again, and this Saturday is the 1st annual “shop your garage or someone else’s” starting at 8:30. There will be a list of garage sales and you can head out by yourself or with friends.** Pick up a couch, a table, a chair, a set of light bulbs, pots, pans…anything. Set a budget that you’re willing to donate $10? $100? And just see what you can find that is fun. It goes to a good cause and it’s shopping!! Stop by around lunch and grab a hot dog. It’s going on all day so feel free to bring by your goodies anytime.**

ooooh, two of my favorite things: parties + paper… came together last night for a soirée of all things stylish. Six of the city’s most talented letterpress studios came together with the help of Mohawk to showcase and SELL!! their letterpress artwork, stationery and other fun goodies. The event was hosted at The Apartment which is of course a space already chalked full of eye candy and lavish decor but tack on to that a room filled with design hungry designers drooling over paper deliciousness and voila! a room full happy little campers (including moi).
reused, revamped, recycled, reloved, reinspired… and you thought YOU felt like you were regurgitating the same ensemble over and over. Check this out — theuniformproject.com. You really should watch the whole thing. And be inspired tomorrow when you look back in your closet at the “same old thing.”
Check out the first outfit and then a few others in “the rest of the story.” Thanks Mila!
