paper party

eight

ooooh, two of my favorite things: parties + paper… came together last night for a soirée of all things stylish. Six of the city’s most talented letterpress studios came together with the help of Mohawk to showcase and SELL!! their letterpress artwork, stationery and other fun goodies. The event was hosted at The Apartment which is of course a space already chalked full of eye candy and lavish decor but tack on to that a room filled with design hungry designers drooling over paper deliciousness and voila! a room full happy little campers (including moi).

The studios that participated are Studio 204, MissingQPress, Color Box Design, Lilco, Ink Lips Letterpress, and Black Hare Studio.

These are fantastically elaborate holiday cards by Kim Neiman of Studio 204. Kim has an incredible talent in addition to letterpress, her book making, and apparently her sense of humor. I’m particularly fond of the one on the right. It’s a Christmas card that reads “SHOUTING CRYING & POUTING WILL GET YOU NO WHERE.” I might need a copy of that one! It’s tough to tell but this actually folds from a large poster into a miniature book. I love petite books!

The ever talented Lily Smith+Kirkley of Lilco, I had no idea what she was going to bring last night but was LOVING every last bit of it. That whole gingham collection - swooning over the colors and the graphic feel! Then this very ‘of the moment’ pattern on the lower left, all hand carved by Lily.

Oh Rhonda Warren! Must you always have SUCH cute stuff!! I swear, her bag of tricks is never full. My favorite Color Box moment of the night was these masks. Rhonda loves Halloween and I think loves to dress up but for folks like me that would do anything not to have to dress up for Halloween I thought these masks were the perfect solution. So many, I could have one for every day of the week!

We know this guy with  his delightfully brilliant and dapper self!

This was my purchase of the evening, great poster by Inky Lips. LIVE IN THE NOW. Can’t wait to hang it up!

More loveliness from Studio 204…beautifully executed split fountain show girl in all her glory by Kim. And again, the funny side of this dynamic duo “Boy Howdy, I ‘ll Tell You One Thang” (You have to laugh, designed by Virgil Scott.

Adore these lovely ladies by Black Hare Studio…

Absolutely!! This group actually hosts shows together about once a quarter. The Mohawk party was a little different but the other shows are often at Studio 202 and I’ll definitely post them pre-show or Twitter about any news I get of upcoming shows for you all who love paper as much as I do!! xo, Sam

  15. Hey I was digging for valuable information on consumables for large format printers. Your site was listed on Alta Vista in this category, you have an interesting site.
