happy turkey day!! This thanksgiving I feel so blessed - wonderful family, amazing friends, my precious niece, the blog, the launch of SWOON, the studio, writing for F/D Luxe, getting involved with Dwell with Dignity and so much more… I’m overwhelmed with positive and exciting happenings these days and feel fortunate to get to share it all with you via the blog.

With all that said, I’m thrilled to reveal the next DWD project. This is the 3rd apartment installation and I think each time it gets better and better. You can explore the second apartment here. Support for Dwell is growing by the day and I’m looking forward to a style/SWOON sponsored apartment will full design, furnish and install in the late spring. For the holidays, I’m working with DWD to pull together “Deck the Halls.” We’ve rounded up a bunch of super talented graphic design friends to create art for the public areas of the Interfaith Housing buildings. I’ll post about that after the install mid December.

Enjoy the creativity, effort and generousity throughout this post. Keep in mind that Lisa and Kim find out less than a week before the family moves in who they will be and what their needs are. It could be a family of two or a family of five…a challenge to say the least. — can you imagine not knowing until the last minute if we need a day bed or bunk beds! *just fyi - Dwell Well is the tagline for DWD… love it!

ooooh what’s that??… I’ll admit I’m a fan of shiny objects and easily distracted by them just like everyone else. With that said, I’m driving in Deep Ellum a couple of months or so ago and I’m stunned by this new sculpture that is clearly in progress at the time. What is it?? Where did it come from? What is that shiny mirror like finish? Are those birds?!?! You betcha!

Come to find out it is a series of three installations called “The Traveling Man” for the new DART station off of Good Latimer AND it is a collaboration by two creative geniuses I greatly admire, Brad Oldham and Brandon Oldenburg. Both Brad and Brandon are literally oozing with talent, they can’t help it - they draw, they paint, they make things move, they built hugely awesome art…put them together and look out people! Between these two guys, their clients range from the Ritz Carlton to Disney (Wouldn’t we all love to be so lucky?). Brandon is one of the founders of the amazing Reel FX and has since started Moonbot Studios and Brad is sculptor+product+lighting+hardware+architectural features+all-around incredibly talented artist and designer.

manic monday

monday

expect the unexpected… You just never can tell what might happen and here’s the best part, you might actually like it! The older I get the more I thankful for how things turn out and come together. I love this photo and appreciate all of the beauty that maybe only a Texas girl can enjoy? Taken by one of my favorite people, Bret Sano. Just a quick post on a manic monday to say hello. Looking forward to Thanksgiving and relaxing with the fam, been a busy month!!

this ain’t no frumpy friday people… the sun may not be shining but life itself definitely is. I am drooling over these images from Jake Walters that landed in my inbox a while back. Invigorating and sensational energy that appears to be just shooting out of of these drop dead gorgeous bodies. Check out the rest of Jake’s work. He has this amazing and sometimes bizarre way of looking at how to capture people. Lots of fantastic shots of celebs but tons of other really crazy, great stuff.

just in need of a little, or a lot rather, of tlc… I’m thrilled to share the story (and the glory) of this magnificently remastered gem with you. I first saw this house on a home tour a couple of years ago but then Leslie Pritchard of Again and Again reintroduced it to me recently. Leslie worked with the homeowner, Jackie Alberga to take the historic home from a near condemned tear down to a gorgeous, beautifully restored home. I’ve included the before images as well!
