actually yes, I will take a tarantula… with a Ken doll head! I love it when I find things in the most unexpected places and lately it seems like Dallas has been like Candy Land! New little shops popping up all over the place that feel more like they should be in Seattle or Austin but I’m thrilled they are here. The other day I was at one of my old favs, Lula B’s on lower Greenville and spotted a new sign. Bows and Arrows. I was in a hurry but whipped around anyway and I was NOT disappointed. Alicia and Adam are the adorably hip owners of this new flower shop + gallery + craft store with a very groovy indie vibe. I couldn’t wait to share.

Lower Greenville is not a place (other than Lula B’s) that I really think of for uber cool shopping…until now. Kudos to owners, Alicia and Adam for taking the plunge in this area…I actually think it’s a great fit and will do really well. (pictured above, love her pink)

flowers

I grabbed these floral images from the website and just so you know there are a few fresh flowers in store as well. Absolutely gorgeous… my kind of flowers - they look like something out of Martha Stewart (let’s face it, that woman knows how to do flowers) - just jam packed with texture and petals. L.O.V.E.L.Y.  I think it’s hard to find a great flower shop, even in Dallas. We are lucky to have a few but hap-hap-happy as a lark to have another one with a fresh eye!

Alicia is offering fresh flower workshops that I am DEFINITELY planning to sign up for. I can’t think of a more fun way to spend an afternoon, especially with someone who truly makes gorgeous arrangements that are right up my alley. More info on that here.

The art. So the art is fun, amusing, interesting and some of it x-rated (I’m just sayin’) BUT mostly, very cool. I’m elated that we are having more and more stores embrace the concept of attainable art.

Loved this silkcreen print and then the two line drawings below are awesome. The one on the left is vinyl right onto the wall….totally digging that.

So - back to the non G-rated art…these gorgeous snowflakes… you’ll have to see for yourself but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

heads1

I’m going to let you make your own interpretation on this heaping pile of heads.

icecream1

These ice-cream cones are oh-so precious and the jewelry is super fun. On the left is a series of hand-sculpted miniature delights like toast with butter or hamburgers and below are is a necklace and headband handmade by Alicia.

I’m still thinking I need this gold bra silkscreen print. Don’t you love?

Last but certainly not least are my two favorite things… a glimpse of her collection of milkglass and my tarantula with Ken doll head. That was the show stopper. I saw little Ken sitting in the window on a pile of books and new I would love it. (two headed lamb is from the same artist based out of Concord, New Hampshire)

All in all - some of my favorite folks are those that are a little bizarre and a little sweet with an appreciation for lovely things… I think you’ll find that is the case here.

One of the few spots in this city with genuine character. In a city that loves to write off anything with charm and replace it with the generic, this place is so refreshing. Adam and Alicia are so cute and sweet! Tell everyone you know about this place!

Also, be sure to stop by Feb. 4th for a trunk show and drinks featuring my clothing line House of Dang!
