such a pleasure… Last week I visited the very talented Rebecca Sherman in her gracefully chic condo. I have been asking her to shoot her home for a while now and it was worth the wait. Rebecca is a writer, blogger, and treasure seeker based in Dallas. Her subject matter is typically jaw-droppingly gorgeous architecture and interiors for regional and national publications ranging from D Home and Modern Luxury to Southern Living. You should definitely check out her blog Decor Dallas: houses, gardens and people. She has clearly soaked up the design and grandeur of so many of the stories she has written over the years and channeled them into her own monochromatic style haven that I would define as modern classic. One of my favorite local designers, Julio Quinones, helped Rebecca make some of the original fabric selections and sourcing for furniture.
Savor the serenity and style. Enjoy.

it’s a sickness really… this love affair I have with chairs. All my friends give me a hard time every chance they get. In most of the rooms in my house there are more places to sit than technically appropriate but I can’t help it. I love them. Each one I can justify for one reason or another, the legs, the shape, the finish…not to mention the stack (and I do mean stack or maybe stacks!) of chair in both the garage and my studio behind the house waiting for a little TLC and to be “reinvented.” My sweet friend Martha, sent me these chairs by LA based furniture designer Tanya Aguiniga a while back and I’ve been waiting for the perfect cold day to share them with you because the first ones I saw were felted. I started looking into more of Tanya’s work last night and was awe-struck. It’s ah-mazing. She goes far beyond chairs, birds, necklaces, bags…all kinds of gorgeous pieces. A few you can find for sale here and you should definitely check out her very cool website here.

little hotels are great aren’t they… I’ve still got lots of stuff to share from our trips last year so I’ll continue to sprinkle those in throughout 2010. There was just too much good stuff from each place to post all at once and still appropriately highlight the stores, hotels, food, people, etc. I try to mix it up and I try to mix it up to not talk about Dallas or my latest trip all the time…All that said, this is a fun little boutique hotel we ran across in Vancouver, Moda. We didn’t stay there, just popped our heads in but it’s super cute and would love to put this on the list as a place to try if we every make it back. Loved the logo, the decor and the overall feel of the hotel. Oh, and great wallpaper! (which I have a current obsession with that I still haven’t gotten out of my system)
Happy Friday all!

beautiful, isn’t it… I could get lost in this photo. I love the way it is framed so unusually yet so perfectly and serenely. To me, it’s completely different than images we’ve all seen so many times of breathtaking landscapes. It’s like you’re there - only in black and white.
Last night I went to the preview of the first exhibit at the ”link asia” featuring new contemporary artist gallery in the Crow Collection of Asian Art. I have to say…it was stunning. The first show is Ka Yeung’s China Impermanent Beauty, 1996-1997. I strongly recommend visiting, especially if you love to travel or love photography. The opening is this Saturday and Ka will be speaking at 3:00. (side note: He is one of the most humble, talented people I know…it is a rare treat to see him speak) More info here and a brief write up from Christopher Wynn/DMN here.
