such a pleasure… Last week I visited the very talented Rebecca Sherman in her gracefully chic condo. I have been asking her to shoot her home for a while now and it was worth the wait. Rebecca is a writer, blogger, and treasure seeker based in Dallas. Her subject matter is typically jaw-droppingly gorgeous architecture and interiors for regional and national publications ranging from D Home and Modern Luxury to Southern Living. You should definitely check out her blog Decor Dallas: houses, gardens and people. She has clearly soaked up the design and grandeur of so many of the stories she has written over the years and channeled them into her own monochromatic style haven that I would define as modern classic. One of my favorite local designers, Julio Quinones, helped Rebecca make some of the original fabric selections and sourcing for furniture.
Savor the serenity and style. Enjoy.

First of all, let’s talk about the color of the walls. It’s the same throughout, Restoration Hardware Bay’s Laurel. The calming light hue looks beautifully different in every room yet wonderfully consistent. Rebecca was fortunate when she moved in there were existing gorgeous watery blue green Silk Trading drapes in the living room and that is where she pulled her color inspiration from. She told me “I wanted to create a cocoon of color since the room is small.” Mission accomplished. Also, I fell in love with this stool on the right. She bought this one from Julio…it’s vintage and beautifully upholstered in two-tone silk.

The bench on the back of the desk is perfect. I just put one on the opposite side of my desk too but Rebecca’s looks much more amazing than mine. Perfectly in scale.

Isn’t this your typical desk chair? This is where all of Rebecca’s genius writing and creativity flows… I’m going to attribute it to the lush mohair.

This antiqued mirrored console table had lovely details and was surrounded by all kinds of pretty little things.

She had gorgeous white flowers everywhere, my fav and I grew quickly fond of this gazelle that Rebecca found on ebay.

Ooohlala! This dining room. GORGEOUS. The bench is is the perfect mix up of seating paired with these gorgeous faux rope chairs that are just like the ones Kelly Wearstler used in The Tides at South Beach sans arms. But the real hero here is this 70s era Italian tronchi chandelier!!

Um, LOVE this fabric and what I love even more is the price!! $8!! It’s from Frank’s Cane and Rush supply out of California. Note from Rebecca: “it’s the only place I’ve ever found that has the exact raffia that Ralph Lauren uses — it’s all natural raffia from Madagascar. I have a sample of the Ralph Lauren here and couldn’t tell a difference, except that you buy the Ralph Lauren already backed and these from Frank’s have to be backed. The Ralph Lauren sells for $400 a yard and it’s trade only!”

And deep breathe, this is the sanctuary of serenity. So cozy, so delightfully glam yet so approachable. The color palette brings your blood pressure waaaay down, great linens, chic details.

I couldn’t get over the story of this fabric on this stool (ebay find, late 20th century). The fabric is a half yard of Scalamandre Le Tigre, which she got for $350 a yard on ebay. It sells to the trade for $1,700 a yard if you can imagine!! It’s all silk, made in Italy. Rebecca is a genius and sold the other half back on ebay for $350! And this exquisite 1920s era Italian Maria Theresa chandelier in the bedroom… so pretty.

Unique side tables that were customized by Julio. They are actually small chest of drawers and the bottom drawer slides out with a custom leather tray to create a clever table for beverages or books.

And the view off of her balcony…

How elegant. Thanks for sharing Sam!!

I really like the desk chair and the chandeliers are all lovely! Love the incorporation of the small loveseat/bench with the dining room table!
So sophisticated and lovely! The dining room chandelier stops my heart - divine!
I LOVE this place! I’m sure the dinner parties are fabulous with that view! It’s fun to see where the talented Rebecca Sherman makes it all happen!
