ooooooh fun… I’ll tell you we had a blast. This is a relatively quick detailed look at a living and dining room we’ve just completed my friend and client Amy Phillips. It was the first interior endeavor for SWOON, the studio and it was tons of fun. Amy and I have known each other and worked together for several years. When she and I first talked about her house she stressed how important it was that it was modern and not cluttered (at all!!) but super comfortable and livable. That’s more of a challenge than you might realize. It’s one thing to make it look pretty but comfy? We tested out cozy perfection from sofas to dining chairs and kept it all pretty darn reasonable - which is so important to me. I love a good deal. She was happy and so was I. Bask in the glow of comfortable luxury.

bret

my sweet and talented husband… You may or may not know that Bret is a graphic designer but he is also a photographer. He started pursuing photography a couple of years ago but really got into fashion about the same time I decided to create a blog. We’ve both been designers for a long time so it’s been really fun to watch these other passions blossom and they have helped us creatively more than we ever imagined. I’m very proud of him and thought it would be fun to share a little of his true passion, fashion. Hope you enjoy.

Happy Valentine’s Day! …whew 14 of 14!!

two bees in a pod: part 13 of 14

with a little help from our friends… (Wedding No. 4) A few years back, I, along with several other good friends helped throw a wedding for Shay Ometz and Jeff Barfoot, owners of Bee Things. I asked them to dig up the photos so I could share them with you. We are all designers and love to throw parties so we knew we could pull off this cute little backyard shindig. The bride wore green and thus set the tone for the whole evening. Hope you enjoy!

pretty playtime on etsy, pt. A : part 12 of 14

honestly i’m kinda of old fashioned… With the way technology whizzes by constantly changing our everyday, there are only a few moments in life that we all share from generation to generation. I for one, am thankful we still have a few. Weddings are one of those times. It’s still a father giving his only daughter away, the exchange of vows, the buying of a wedding dress. I came across Fab-Life Paper Dolls the other day created and illustrated by fashion designer Berry Crocker while looking for Valentines ideas on Etsy. I wholly support the comeback of paper dolls. Growing up we all played with them and I think this is a sweet, girly vintage-inspired gift for any bride. The paper doll bride has a full wardrobe with several changes of clothes for all of the key events: wedding, wedding night, honeymoon. Oh! and an adorable little puppy!

it can be overwhelming… trying to shop on Etsy but the other day I was on a kick and collected a good group of gifties for Valentine’s. I realize it might be a little late but I think most of these could be good for an anytime gift. Happy shopping!
