burrrrr… (Wedding No. 3) but isn’t it so beautiful!! It’s been snowing here since last night and hasn’t stopped all day. This is a rare winter white moment for us so we’re enjoying every last snowflake. I’m thrilled to share these sweet photos with you from Chicago based photographer Annie Sturgis. Annie’s best friend Jamie was also married this past New Year’s Eve. The wedding was held in Chicago and it appears to have been a blissful snowy afternoon. I received these photos mid January and thought they were truly gorgeous but as you know I don’t typically write about weddings so I just hung on to them. And serendipitously, the stars aligned today as the perfect snow-filled evening to post these photos.

but don’t worry little lovebirds… The tiny little cup of warm chicken broth goodness with miniature cheddar biscuit will warm you right up this Valentine’s Day. If you haven’t heard already The Zodiac on the 6th floor downtown Neiman Marcus is having a special brunch buffet similar the one they typically only exclusively run through the holidays. (you may remember that Bret and I kicked off our New Year’s Eve extravaganza there and loved every minute of it) If you don’t have plans already, I highly recommend it and promise you won’t be disappointed. It’s amazing food and a charmingly chic and historic atmosphere. Bret and I make a point when in New York to have a drink at the 7th floor Bergdorf Goodman cafe designed by Kelly Wearstler and we both think this is our Dallas version of that NYC favorite.

i love love… (Wedding No. 2) You may remember this dynamic duo from a few weeks ago but if you missed it then it is my pleasure to introduce you to the Rico’s. Alicia and Adam = adorable (not in an icky way…like in a fabulous-totally-jealous-of-their-greatness way). Not only did they open their new shop Bows and Arrows at the end of last year but they also got married. When I was there writing them up the first time for the blog Alicia told me about the wedding and honestly these two are the ones who inspired me to do this back to back 14 days posts until Valentine’s Day. I had a couple of weddings I wanted to share but didn’t know when or how but when I saw the Rico’s amazing wedding it hit me. Every little detail and shade of the bright lemony yellow throughout their nuptials is pure happiness. Hope it brings the same smile to your face as it did to mine.
Note: The Ricos wedding is in the current issue of The Knot, New York and was featured last week on Brooklyn Bride.

don’t let the name fool you… because if you like roughin’ it, this ain’t for you my friend. I mentioned that we spent our wedding night at Rough Creek Lodge and that I would follow up with additional info — there’s so much more to tell. Rough Creek is lux, rustic lodge about a two hour drive of hill country scenery from Dallas near Glen Rose.
Read more for photos and the full scoop on this amazingly luxurious and convenient little getaway.
