i love the 80’s

uni11

a little bit of sunshine for you… I am a busy bee working 9 to 5 (a.m. that is) but can’t wait to share with you a big announcement tomorrow. In the meantime it seems like my love of the 80’s continues to fuel my creativity and energy. From Madonna and 3D every where (I even saw 3d sidewalk chalk this weekend?!?) to geometric decor and pop colors it seems like it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Rainbows and unicorns, I mean come on — Don’t we all love them??

for the love

main2

of art and soul… I could write at and look at art all day, every day. I’m sure many of you could do the same. Looking at art, or the way it’s created lights a fire in me every time. I feel the need to jump up and get a project going. I am lucky enough to share with you today the home of June Mattingly, a contemporary art fanatic who’s heart pounds at the site of great modern art, especially undiscovered, fresh talent. June started a blog over the summer that I highly recommend you visiting. It’s filled with amazing artists and she is currently working on a book all about Texas Contemporary Artists. She has an eye for young talent and her home is an homage to her collection. It’s all about the art the fills the walls that bring this space to life… carefully selected, thoughtfully placed.

It’s a collection and home to envy. Hope you enjoy.

lux revival

the first time… I saw this collection was several years ago on a model that was wearing a gun around her neck. At the time it was a little much for me but I think the older I get, the weirder I get and call me crazy (I would actually prefer it) but now I’m loving them. I’ve seen them more since the gun incident and was blown away by one that I saw my brilliant fashionista FD Luxe editor, Tracy Achor Hayes (just love her) wearing at a meeting several months ago. It was super long, five beautiful black feathers on vintage chains. I hadn’t ever really scene anything quite it. It’s still on my wishlist. In the meantime, I picked up these two necklaces this weekend from Dolly Python (one of my favorite stores) by what is now called “Lux Revival” and are the peculiar creations of Ren and and her friend Lisa.

See more images of my necklaces and others below.

look out world

behind the scenes… I know I keep saying this but we are having the best time. Since beginning the studio we have been so blessed. We are thrilled to continue so many of our long lasting relationships and are equally as excited to have found several new ones. As a studio we strive to constantly push ourselves in new directions with graphic design and are thrilled to be venturing into new areas of design with interiors and products. The launch of the SWOON, the studio blog is decidedly about new work and inspiration. We are extremely proud of all of the work, new brands and openings we have been a part of thus far in our careers. Reflecting back it’s all pretty incredible and we feel very lucky. However we chose to create a blog to take you on our journey going forward and share in our day to day excitement in lieu of a website focusing on our history. We began blogging at the on set of the studio but worked on the design in our spare time which is why we are just now launching! It’s all good stuff and we hope that the studio blog (and style/SWOON of course) will light a new creative spark in you…whatever you do. Visit our happy little studio here.

and so little time… buckle up buttercup because spring is here and that means folks are buzzing about soaking up the fantastic weather! I’m beyond excited to share with you the perfect brunch that I indulged in courtesy of Two Hot Potatoes a couple of Sundays ago. TDF, I’m just sayin’. And, so I hear, super easy to make but let me tell you this, it was super easy to devour!! Put this one in your cookbooks friends and check out their foodie blog. These two lovely ladies have a big love for mouthwatering cuisine and life.

I know we all can’t wait to get to Sunday morning and whip up this yummy breakfast feast, but in the meantime you should definitely be aware of and check out all of this, all on Saturday: the White Rock Farmers MarketThe Dallas FleaDash Down Greenville Avenue St. Patrick’s Day run and parad; my crazy funny friend, comedian and singer/songwriter, Dave Little at Opening Bell and Tim is the DJ (aka Tim Flannery, talented creative director at NM and part time fab DJ) at Lee Harvey’s! Like I said busy busy busy…all good stuff so choose wisely or if you’re like me, attempt it all.

Happy sunny-days! Be sure to read below to get the details, photos and recipes from this savory spread.
