coastal living love: part 2 of two

home_outdoor

now this is what I want… I could live with everything about this second part of the project for sure.  I am SUCH a sucker for screen in porches, pools, hammocks and succulent overload (who isn’t?!). I’ll confess - the entire time I was working on this project I kept picturing myself lounging out there with a glass of wine and a nice breeze. This was so much fun to work on. Hope you soak up all the goodness that is part two of two: Sanka’s home — the outdoor living.

Im going to highlight just a few things here you may not notice to let you know what we did. As with the inside we were adding a little variation with gray to the brown hues of the house and the green grass. We added Tejas Rock to bring in gray and lined the walkways. I really like the way it turned out.

This is a huge tree root from Big Mango. I LOVE to shop there. It’s truly one of my favorite stores in the city.

SO THIS IS AWESOME: Sanka and I were discussing driftwood because I really wanted to have it incorporated into some succulent arrangements I was working on in the outdoor dining space. She had seen some while walking near the lake by her house. WELL, Thelma and Louise (that would be Sanka and I) stole her husband Brett’s truck and away we went! Three truckloads later we were sooooo proud of ourselves. So! I must highlight our treasures. All the wood except the tree root sculpture you see incorporated in the yard was FOUND and reclaimed by us. Although it looked like it was in piles to be disposed of , we weren’t sure if we could be arrested but we made it out clean! Whew.

I think this is our pride and joy. It’s a HUGE tree trunk that we used as a bench by the hot tub. It is enormous and super heavy. No, we did not lift this one ourselves…it took lots of convincing and many men (thank you Brett).

We designed and built a pergola to create a little space to play games or have lunch by the pool. Again, so happy with the results. It’s very tall and feels like an extension of the architecture of the house from the detailing of the beams.

We also had this table top built and distressed for her existing Restoration Hardware table. Originally the table seated a tight six but now it can comfortably seat up to 10 and tightly 12! It’s 13′ long!!

Look at this piece of wood we pulled out of the lake!!!? It’s huge, like 10 feet tall and it looks like a surf board. So beautiful. We also designed and had built the benches that flank either side of the bar.
