deep breath… I have to apologize for my sporadic posting this week. I have received several emails about the “You make the world beautiful, love” post so I thought clarification might be in order. I have lost two friends in the past two weeks and found out about both of them that day. My second very dear friend passed away from a long battle with cancer this past Tuesday. Both of these people were amazing and the world is a little less bright without them. But their lives and their memories shine so bright I will always smile when I think of both them. As I said the other day, posting about design and style just doesn’t seem appropriate in the immediate days after events like these. I thought I would fill you in for the sake of explanation, not sympathy, and can’t wait to get back to sharing with you so many fun new things next week. The world is beautiful and precious even when reality hits hard.
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend my friends.
xo,
Sam

oh judy and jane… Must you be so fabulous? Of course, they can’t help it. I was thrilled a few weeks back when Judy asked me to come to the house for a shoot with A-M-A-Z-I-N-G photographer Douglas Friedman for Nowness. Nowness is a website owned by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) with a daily feature focused on luxury global lifestyle. It is very very cool. I am also in total awe of Douglas and of course the Aldridge women (all amazing people involved here). Douglas has shot so many celebrity and designer homes it’s incredible. See more photos below from Nowness, Douglas and visit Jane and Judy’s site for behind the scenes pics of the shoot.

channeling creative energy… Clearly I’m on an art kick the past few days but more to share. This weekend there are several little gallery openings and events. I love any kind of craft fair, art happening, class…whatever. I always feel inspired when I leave. Ready to go tackle a project. Here are a couple that I’m partial to because friends of mine are involved. Have a fantastic weekend and hope you can make some of these great events (if you live in the area!)

i think that croc ate the ram… I love all things animals (who doesn’t?). I stumbled across the Cincinnatti Federal Building while researching Charley Harper not too long ago. Isn’t it great? 100 animals all made out of tiles…

it’s all so pretty… I’m kind of obsessed with book art. I dabble a little here and there with folding book but nothing like what’s really possible. Book art in general is fascinating to see the things people come up with. The other day Ellie of Mint (love her blog) tweeted about her latest post featuring artist Jonathan Callan. I made a note to look it up when I had time. Today I searched google images for “book art”. It blew my mind. I’m highlighting three artists I really enjoyed (there were many) The above image is Cara Barer and below are Jonathan Callan, Georgia Russell.
