time to kick back and relax. I am so ready for the weekend — happy to take a deep breathe and chill out (and still dreaming of a vacation). This is the vacation home of my amazing editor Tracy and her husband Van in beautiful Wyoming. Just looking at these photos takes my blood pressure down. Everything about this house and the environment transports me to all things peaceful and calming.

I adore the style of these two, both at their Dallas home and here. I appreciate all of the details: the punches of color, the horn side table, the mixture of patterns and textures from the cowhide to the hounds tooth and even the southwestern moments in the pillows. I am, of course, a huge fan of the wood on the ceiling. I think the underlying key to the Hayes style is that it’s all approachable and with such understated grace. There’s definitely an element of chic tranquility in both of their homes…that’s what your home is supposed to be right? Your haven? I think so…

Another piece of art by Van Hayes. His work is really very cool, kind of charming almost always having a hand-done moment in some way or another. I dig it. Bret and I are working on getting him to sell us a piece of his art.
