this has been quite a week… I’ve often wondered how people who have blogs similar to mine handle these situations… personal, yet not really. I talk about places I see and people I enjoy and from time to time an update on my life (like getting married or launching the studio) but outside of that I don’t talk about personal struggles that all human beings have. I created the blog to be a creative outlet that is lovely, positive and hopefully inspirational. But I knew there would come a moment (and I’m sure there will be more) when it may be to tough to ignore the facts of life and just need a minute or feel the need to say something about it. The end of this week has been an overwhelming amount of unexpected and unfortunate news of friends and family. I am reminded of how fragile life really is. It was a tough one and a blog post about anything else doesn’t seem appropriate. So - tell people you love them, hug your pets and babies and parents, love the ones you see every day a little harder, don’t take anything for granted and take time to make that call to someone you haven’t talked to in a while or a fence you need to mend. Life is unpredictable, beautiful and short. Have a great weekend and I appreciate all of you so much!

To be sensitive to life is to love. Thank you for sharing!
Many blessings and good vibes to you and your loved ones.
thanks for sharing…sometimes it’s these reality check posts that are most beautiful and inspirational. ps- that is such a great photo!
I absolutely agree! We need to be thankful for every moment. Sending positive thoughts and wishes your way…
This was a nice post for you to share. It was a rough week indeed, and you put is beautifully. It is so important to love every day and not get caught up in life. It is also so important to know everyone is going through something, so just be nice. You never know what pain, sorrow, happiness or struggles people are dealing with and they may just need you to smile at them to brighten their day.
Got this blog post from a shared link on FB. Thought I’d share a small note I wrote about a year ago.
Peace to you,
Bart
One of our residents passed away a few days ago. This is nothing new or abnormal in a nursing home facility. But over the two months that this fella had lived with us, I had grown to really enjoy serving him on a daily basis. He was always so polite and gracious. You gotta keep a lil’ wall around you working in a nursing home. And though I will perhaps never shed a tear for my friend. I will post one of my favorite poems to honor his memory.
Things Shouldn’t Be So Hard
A life should leave deep tracks:
Ruts where she went out an back to get the mailor,
To move the hose around the yard
Where she used to stand before the sink,
A worn-out place beneath her hand
The china knobs rubbed down to white pastilles
The switch she used to feel for in the dark almost erased
Her things should keep her marks.
The passage of a life should show; it should abrade
And when life stops, a certain space— however small—should be left scarred by the grand and damaging parade.
Things shouldn’t be so hard.
