time to kick back and relax. I am so ready for the weekend — happy to take a deep breathe and chill out (and still dreaming of a vacation). This is the vacation home of my amazing editor Tracy and her husband Van in beautiful Wyoming. Just looking at these photos takes my blood pressure down. Everything about this house and the environment transports me to all things peaceful and calming.

i can’t say enough nice things… about Julia Rothman. I have talked about her before on the blog. I met her a few years ago and have been fortunate enough to maintain a friendship with her. I had lunch she and Grace when I was in New York. Two of the most multi-talented, humble women you will ever meet. This weekend Julia tweeted about her new pattern preview and big shocker, it’s AWESOME. I know you will love it. Check it out here. Also her new lines at Anthro and Hello Lucky are out! (Hello Lucky cards below)
PS - Yesterday’s Design*Sponge Dallas graphic was also created by the oh-so talented Ms. Rothman.

hooray… Today my American Idol aka Grace (we all want to be her best friend, don’t we?) posted the Dallas Design Guide that I helped her update a few months back. I don’t know if you all use the d*s city guides but I use them religiously. In fact, I used the San Antonio one this weekend! I could have gone on for days about places to eat, drink, shop and stay in Dallas but tried to edit it to my absolute musts if you’re in the city. As an avid user of these guides I think it’s too over whelming to have too much and typically not enough time. Thus, I prefer the well edited list (I mean, it’s still plenty long and will keep you busy for a full weekend). As I say, we are super fortunate to have many great stores and admittedly the one thing I heavily edited was the restaurants only because it was getting so long and unless you live here I think you wouldn’t know where to begin. If you don’t live here you should know, we have some amazing food…if you ever need a food recommendation in addition to the guide just email me. I’m happy to throw out a few good ones. Also, super big thank you to sweet Grace for including me today in Sneak Peek of Best Offices!! Hope you all had a great holiday!

but we will happily take it… Just looking forward to a few days of relaxation. Hope you all have lots of hot dogs, burgers, beer, chips, swimming pools, lakes, beaches, fireworks, friends, family and tons of fun in store for you this holiday weekend. I’ll be taking a deep breath with all of the above and hopefully floating the river (quite possibly in the rain)! Hope you all take a minute to enjoy all of the good things in life this holiday. Cheers!

awww, isn’t that sweet… Last night it was rainy (again) and I got home early! Yay! So I curled up in bed with my laptop and started cruising the blogs. I so rarely actually get to do that so it’s wonderful when I do. I imagine it’s how so many people feel when they read a good book. Blogs are my version of a good book. In my constant awe of the amazing and beautiful things out there in the world I stumbled upon this image from UK based illustrator Clare Owen called “ladybeard” and from there I immediately went looking for more. I adore her sensitivity and style. It feels a tad naive but coupled with graceful perfection. I found a tiny bit of Clare’s work on her Etsy site but you can also visit her blog here. Enjoy.
