and I can’t get this out of my mind… I picked up the November Elle last week and stumbled upon this. I think it’s something you could have easily blown past as a relatively small feature but I just loved everything about it — the styling, the spirit, the natural elements and the design. This is Chase Cohl’s accessory and headdress line, Little Doe. Chase is the 22 year old daughter of long-time Rolling Stones manager, Michael Cohl, banjo player in the Folk Rock band WeePaw (also loving), fashion designer and bohemian chic icon.
As I’m running like a nutso this week and in the weeks to come (overcommitted, shocker - but all fabulous and fun), I can’t help but feel the need to embrace a little more crazy - jump in, the water is fine. In the article in Elle, she said ”Like a 60’s commune, but without all the Manson weirdness.” She was actually describing a camping trip but I think that it’s the ‘nail on the head’ of her whole brand if you ask me. Definitely unorthodox but oh-so lovely.

i can hardly take it… I’m so excited. In mid October I started thinking about what to do for a Christmas giveaway (last year’s was a huge success). I feel extremely grateful for all of the opportunities and people I have met through the blog. I was trying to think of a way to do a ridiculously, spectacular, BIG gift — which lead me to the sponsors of the blog. Every sponsor on the blog is someone who I whole heartedly believe in, support and admire. They are truly my favorite stores in the city of Dallas. It’s very important to me to carefully consider each sponsor request and determine what is appropriate for my audience.
Starting Friday, December 3rd, the sponsors of style/SWOON and I will be giving away one AMAZING gift every day (during the week) until Christmas. I will say this. I. WANT. IT. ALL. You will not believe the things that we have rounded up. Seriously, fabulous.
The final gift announced on Christmas Eve will be a table top vignette consisting of many treasures cultivated and designed by myself and announced on Christmas.
The criteria is simple. Send an email to sam@styleswoon.com with your full name and city where you are from the day of the gift you would like to enter for. Entries will start for each gift the minute it is posted and will run until the following day when the next gift is posted. You can enter once a day but as many times as you want throughout the contest. You can only win once. Winners will be announced the following day. Everyone who submits will be entered for the final style/SWOON giveaway on Christmas and you can reenter on Dec 24th only (to get your name in twice, if you haven’t already won of course!) for the final gift to be announced on December 25th. Entries are nationwide but limited to within the United States.
Good luck and thank you for your support and thank you to sponsors of style/SWOON. Please feel free to spread the word — the more the merrier! It’s gonna get a little crazy around here….
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

december is going to be nuts… I’m just sayin’. (Lots in store around here for next month, check in on Thanksgiving for the announcement.) But before we get too wrapped in the style/SWOON excitement of the holidays I want to fill you on something I’m ecstatic about, my husband. After much encouragement by yours truly and the support of the crew at We are 1976, Bret is finally going to show his photography. I know I’m biased but believe me I am equally tough if not tougher on him and this is good stuff. ALMOST SIX is a curious, weird, beautiful little collection of found still lifes he has shot on our vacations and style/SWOON trips. He makes me proud.
We would love for anyone who will be in town that evening to stop by for a drink, some last minute holiday shopping and the first ever show of Bret Sano’s found still life photography at one of our favorite stores on earth, We are 1976.

issue 2 rocks… and we could not be more thrilled to be a part of it. Issue 2 of RUE Magazine came out today and it is even better than the first one (which PS - was awesome). Judy, Jane and I have held off on showing much of either of their bedrooms so this is the first peek at them. Would you not just die to live in either one of their rooms?!? Seriously. One thing that I think is so cool about Judy’s room is that we turned the whole thing in to one big closet/boutique. Jane says it’s like a museum for clothes. But the truth is Judy just needed storage so we made it fabulous?!?
Check out the new issue of RUE here. Thank you to Crystal, Jamie and Hilary for working on our story!

finally… I have been dying to share Jason McDaniel’s (aka Missing Q Press) new space with you and when I was there last weekend for the sale I finally got to take photos. First of all it’s so stinkin’ cute. I mean, let’s just take a quick look at this wall here. Weird vintage illustration of a head, felted squirrel, cardboard deer mount, Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo Junior Heifer Show ribbon, numbers, pale pink silhouette, all in fun ornate vintage frames. Oh and LOVE the color of that wall. Let’s just say, MQP is my new happy place. Take a tour of the studio below and if you missed the sale. Missing Q Press will be open to the public every Saturday from 11-3pm until Christmas and will be constantly restocking with new merch + great Christmas cards/wrap/tags/etc. 9983 Monroe, Dallas 75220
AND: I know next week is busy with turkey and all but I have something super fun to announce on Thanksgiving so please be sure to check in before your after turkey nap!
Have a great weekend friends!!
