it is first rate overload… Saturday day, The Missing Q Press Holiday Sale overflowing with paper goodies, antiques and floral greatness AND Bee-things yard sale (a must). Studio 204’s letterpress show that night “What’s So Funny About Peace, Love & Understanding” that pulls together some of my favorite talents in the city. All weekend, the Lakewood Home Tour (do not miss) and new home furnishings store grand opening that I’m really excited about, Blue Print, at 2707 Fairmount, Dallas, Texas 75201. it’s like a fairytale… but no seriously, it really is. The other day I was at an event and saw Alicia and Adam from Bows and Arrows. She had a crown of flowers on and he a boutineer and I thought how lovely their lives must be to be surrounded by beautiful flowers all day, everyday and to be insanely creative on top of that. OF COURSE she would wear a crown of flowers?!? Why wouldn’t she?? Right? So today I give you a STUNNING mockup party/photoshoot by Adam and Alicia inspired by Alice in Wonderland. (DO NOT MISS the model’s eye makeup. What?!? Love.) If this doesn’t make you smile this week, I don’t know what will. Have a great day!

so apparently… I need this (the one on the right). I have always liked Flor and I think it’s a genius concept but I don’t just go nuts for it. I honestly am more inspired by the styling in the catalogs than the flooring options. Truth be told lately I really haven’t paid that much attention to it (sad but true). BUT when I got home last night I was greeted by the new Fall catalog and was pleasantly surprised! I’m happy to report that I think I probably can not live without the Sophistikat Cobalt. Do you love it?? I have considered Flor in our hallway several times but never found anything in the collection that really just MADE me want to go spend $500 on it. Until now. I also really love the barley color in the Sophistikat. The pattern to the left is sort of Missoni inspired and it’s too much for me personally but I dig it. but A few variation of it below and a couple of other patterns I actually also really like. Who knew?

i love to throw a party… Sadly it’s been a while since I’ve had an all-out-over-the-top-no-detail-left- behind get together but parties are high on my list of things to obsess over. When my editor, Tracy, and I talked about the November issue of FD we decided it should sort of have an entertaining spin to it with Thanksgiving coming up. Of course I was happy to focus on the soirée scene.
So - confession - I’m still hooked on gold and brass. I keep thinking it will pass but for now I’m fully embracing it. I was told by someone selling china that gold was not “on trend” but I beg to differ. Go here to see the pieces I pulled for FD but I thought it would be fun to continue this story on the blog so see below for more shiny golden goodness that you might consider for your holiday hoorah.

i’m a sucker… for home tours (we know this). It is my duty to remind you guys about the good ones. This weekend’s AIA Tour of Homes is definitely on my short list of home tour goodness from an architectural perspective. My absolute favorite is actually next weekend, the Lakewood Home Tour. I always find myself totally inspired after these two in particular so mark your calendars people and bring your notebooks for ideas! Also, add to your list this weekend the City Living Tour benefiting the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League. Dwell with Dignity has designed a space on the tour which is very cool.
Sorry for the lack of additional posts besides Napa this week. It was super busy but I have TONS of great stuff to share with you, events for you to attend and announcements to be made between now and the end of the year so stay tuned and have a fabulous weekend friends!!

so much wine… so little time. Well, most importantly, we obviously need to go back. I don’t see how anyone could ever tackle all of the wine country. It’s so small yet so much to see. Apparently there are over 400 wineries just in the Napa area, not to mention Sonoma. I tried to squeeze in as much as we could and believe it or not no shopping!? I know. But we only had two days. We were able to have two AMAZING meals and fit in three fantastic wineries between the most picturesque wedding EVER we went to at Meadowood and our whirlwind in San Fran. It was tough to decide which wineries to go to but I think we had awesome recommendations and all three experiences were different entirely which I was thrilled about. Hope you enjoy a peek at our time in Napa and happy Monday!!
