woohoo… it’s here!! The weekend again! I love to work, don’t get me wrong but I’ve really gotten to where I LOVE the weekend. I’m sure this seems normal to most people but for me, for some reason I never really looked forward to it. It came, it went, it was great but now I really try to find at least a “little” time to slow down and take a deep breath. This weekend I am helping Bret style a shoot. I haven’t blogged much about this but it’s a decent chunk of our lives and more importantly our weekends. That said, going forward I think I’ll start sharing them with you. They are really fun. I’m so proud of him and of course think he’s super talented. His fashion shoots are a fun creative thing we do together. This is a “Where the Wild Things are” shoot we styled with beautiful Sarah Gardner from Kim Dawson Agency along with Michelle Evans (the real stylist!), Rosie Moreno (bad ass makeup artist - note the gold hand print on Sarah’s face) and Hair by Tiffany Marie (crazy talented). A few photos below but you can check out the full shoot on Bret’s site under Fashion III or most of it here.
Happy weekend!

absolutely… one of the most LOVELY magazines and series of videos I’ve seen in a long time. Found out via the best uncle ever (Beefy)’s tweets. You will fall in love with this first issue of Kinfolk magazine — gorgeous typography, AH-mazing imagery and fabulous content. Bless you and your beautiful execution Kinfolk peeps.

i love food… don’t you? I mean like I REALLY love it. And I also REALLLLY love drop dead gorgeous, mouth-watering, jaw-dropping, food photography. Manny (aka one of the most ridiculously talented photographers on earth) has started gastrofotonomia, the art of choosing, cooking, eating, and photographing good food. I just had to share with you these gorgeous shots of his. And if YOU have a favorite dish you want to share, this lovely man will photograph it for you to share the recipe with the world. What fun!! Enjoy.

i’ve always known… there was something really cool to do with wood pallets. I’ve seen lots of shelves and things but THIS is completely genius. It’s so hard to find HUGE letters… but voila people… here ya go!
Found this today on the We are 1976 blog which is also completely genius. I really don’t taught my deep love and adoration for We are 1976 often enough. The store is hands down one of my most favorite, happy places to be on earth (now you can shop online too! woo hoo!) but since I’m pretty sure I have never told you before the blog rocks. Kiss away the next several hours if you can and check out the cool finds of Jully, Derek and Vyns… much love to you guys. Check out more details on this killer project below…

a very sincere and deeply humble… thank you to all of the people who blogged, pinned, purchased, commented or even just thought nice thoughts about the summer project this week. It’s so nerve wracking to put yourself out there artistically and just let go. Honestly, if I had really thought it through I probably never would have done it. So thank you for all your support, who knows I may continue after the summer? …we shall see. As my mother said to me the other day, “Well, you always wanted to be a starving artist.” I give a standing ovation to anyone who is truly an artist (visual or performing) that makes a living from it. You are brave and talented. I celebrate and idolize you.
Friends, as always it is the highlight of my day to hear from you all so please keep giving feedback and comments, I enjoy them so much. In other news, I also received my first commissioned piece for a large size! YAY! So I’ll share that with you when I introduce the next round of paintings in the upcoming weeks.
Have a G-R-E-A-T Ultimate Summer weekend!!!!! xoxo -Sam
