the summer project + manny’s = new paintings

arborside

just a quick glimpse… in case you missed it. I of course at the last minute decided I couldn’t just hang the artwork and brought in a ton of shades of white furniture and lucite galore. I just couldn’t help myself. Had to “style/SWOON” it up as we say around my house. Thank you to everyone who came and a VERY big thank you to Manny Rodriguez. It was a great evening and thus NEW  The Summer Project PAINTINGS ARE UP FOR SALE today! YAY! I know the pink has been hot, hot, hot so there are a few for ya! Very excited to report that there are several LARGE ones and diptychs which I love. I think it’s so cool how they sort of flow from one to the other and I like the idea of pairing cool colors. It is hard to show them on the home page but I put them first (please forgive the Big Cartel size restrictions!). I may be taking a little hiadus after this launch success so just FYI :) I won’t likely continue posting every four weeks. Fall is going to busy but The Summer Project will keep going. I am having too much fun.

Hope this finds you well and have a great week!! More photos and a few of my new favorite paintings below.

bronze beauties

starship_gomez

so creepy, so lovely… I have been meaning to blog about these FOREVER and just yesterday I was looking at Atlantis Dry Goods and reconnected with these beautiful babes. Judy Aldridge and her sister Karen are the brilliant minds behind the jewelry line cast from REAL skeletons of bugs in solid bronze, made by the lost wax method. They are all hand cast and finished and polished to a mirror finish. They are heavy and way creeptastic. I love them. These two above are Starship and Gomez.

meet my idol

main2

go on about your business… That’s what it says over the door on your way out of Pamela Nelson’s home. Funny, very matter of fact and to the point. I like that.

You can file this home tour under “amazing people who truly inspire me” or as my “number one idol“. I don’t use that word lightly. Ever since I met Pamela Nelson (roughly 14 years ago) I have adored her. I idolize this woman. She JUST so happens to be the aunt of my best friend which is how we met but since then I have ended up in living in Dallas and I have always been grateful for my relationship with her. She has made her living her entire life as an artist. She and her husband Bill bought a free standing historic building in downtown Dallas that they live and work in. It is large enough for she and Bill, and two other tenants (it’s a GREAT building). I was lucky enough to see her this weekend and thought I’ve got to share her home with you. Hope you enjoy a look around the world of one of the my most favorite people on earth.
