painting the floor: update

mantle-11

and other DIY goodness… I’m finally sharing this with you after much contemplation as to whether or not to keep it but now I kinda love it. You may remember I was going to paint the tile on my fireplace… well, voila - here she is. And this has catapulted a WHOLE slew of house changes at our house (poor Bret). When they are done, I’ll fill you in! In the meantime, I hope these inspire you to get out your paintbrush.

chevron crazy

floor

obsessed, seriously… I keep trying to talk myself out of it. Don’t get me wrong, I love chevron and herringbone all day, everyday, but I don’t NEED anything Chevron in my house right? I mean, just a touch, somewhere? Well, it seems at every turn I’m trying to throw in a pillow or a rug, a curtain or a wall and thus far none of it has stuck. HOWEVER, I’m got the itch for a DIY this long Easter weekend and I’m thinking of painting TILE of all things. Crazy, I know. (And most likely very temporary!) I’ve been trying to resolve what to do with the tile in front of my fireplace for months now. I’ve picked out a thousand tiles and none seem quite right  - although not knowing how this project will go and assuming total failure, I think I’ll end up with herringbone Carrera marble BUT! it’s worth a try. I pulled some inspiration below of things that inspire. Of course it will be tame (it’s my own house, mecca of neutrals).

This project is a wild card, that’s for sure. Stay tuned. images via upworld and chinoiserie chic

finally… I’m so happy! It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of my decor projects. This has been a long and crazy week so I’m thrilled to share this project with you as a way to sign off for a long weekend. This is the home of my sweet and super stylish friend, Annie Salem. Annie purchased her townhome this spring and asked me if I would help her pull it together after visiting the Neiman Marcus event. I was beyond excited!! I love Annie and I knew her style. We knew it would be a great fit for both of us. See below for the before and after details. Hope you enjoy!! Have a wonderful holiday weekend friends!!!

pretty young thangs

jane2

oh to feel young again… (meaning the chair) I can’t get enough of redoing furniture and lately I’m on a roll. But!! SHAME on me because I’ve been terrible about taking before and afters! I just graffitied this chair for Jane’s room the other day in NEON pink. I can’t seem to get the color here to do it justice but I really want a chair like this. It literally glows. Thank goodness Again and Again is better than me about taking before and afters… a couple of great ones below for ya!

Have  a great day!
