chocolate, bacon, and manny… I had heard of Dude Sweet Chocolate when I was working on my chocolate story for FD last year. They were just opening so we included them in our story but I hadn’t had the opportunity and I do mean OPPORTUNITY to enjoy these chocolates. It was at least 2 or 3 months later when I finally tried them and all I can say is shut the front door people. Blew. My. Little. Taste buds.
Well, for the past nine months or so I keep meaning to write up my new favorite chocolates and to top it off I have the most amazingly-delicious-melt in your mouth photos from photographer extraordinaire Manny Rodriguez. But as if all of that wasn’t enough for me to get my act together to blog DSC — last week I just HAD to go to a chocolate tasting for a project I’m working on (rough, I know). In addition to the artisan chocolates I’m so infatuated with there was “chocolate covered bacon.” It’s really been hard to think about much else since. So here I am FINALLY sharing this greatness with all of you.

i love to throw a party… Sadly it’s been a while since I’ve had an all-out-over-the-top-no-detail-left- behind get together but parties are high on my list of things to obsess over. When my editor, Tracy, and I talked about the November issue of FD we decided it should sort of have an entertaining spin to it with Thanksgiving coming up. Of course I was happy to focus on the soirée scene.
So - confession - I’m still hooked on gold and brass. I keep thinking it will pass but for now I’m fully embracing it. I was told by someone selling china that gold was not “on trend” but I beg to differ. Go here to see the pieces I pulled for FD but I thought it would be fun to continue this story on the blog so see below for more shiny golden goodness that you might consider for your holiday hoorah.

but somebody’s got to do it… I have to say, I am very lucky and love my job(s) - ALL of them. Once a month I get to put on my FD Luxe hat (or fabulous shoes would be more appropriate) and whip together some new trend or write about someone’s new groovy store that I love. It’s truly so much fun. This month I pulled together what we affectionately refer to as the “utilitarian-military-camping trend“. Tracy (my fab editor) things chic camping is the next big thing and I have to agree. We all know military is hot this fall but then there’s the whole utilitarian/military influence in interiors from pulley carts as coffee tables to sofas upholstered in recycled army shelters. Check out the new FD Men’s issue (love the cover) and you can see the spread here. I had a blast styling this. First time ever to group all of the trend items in one shot. LOVE the way it turned out.

for a night anyway… So I don’t really blog about fashion (mostly out of pure intimidation I think) but the truth is I’m a closet fashion lover. I just don’t study it as closely as I do homes and such so I just try to get out the house with my hair brushed and not looking like a total doofus but secretly I wish I was on the front row of Fashion Week next week. Twitter is all a buzz with people at Fashion Week and it sounds like a blast. I’m putting on my bucket list. Until then I’m super excited about the buzz surrounding the kick off to Fashion Week that is tonight, Fashion’s Night Out. FNO is all over the world so where ever you are check here to find out where to go. I’ll be at NorthPark this evening with some of the FD Luxe crew. Would love to see you there!
Have a great weekend! image via ffffound

as promised… Patina Green Home and Market! I met Kaci Lyford through one of my best frienda when we were hunting antiques in Roundtop last year. At the time she and her mom, Luann had an antique business focusing on antique fairs, a booth at White Elephant and another booth in downtown McKinney. All absolutely lovely. In March I saw her again and she was opening a new store in downtown McKinney with her mom and chef husband Robert. On June 26th, I attended the grand opening and was stunned. The store/market/flowershop was WAY more than I could have even imagined. Enjoy… **MAKE NOTE: The Patina Green crew is headed to Europe for their annual shopping trip from August 9-23. So run down this weekend before or check in with them mid September when the container arrives!**
