(city) name in lights

dallasmain

hooray… Today my American Idol aka Grace (we all want to be her best friend, don’t we?) posted the Dallas Design Guide that I helped her update a few months back. I don’t know if you all use the d*s city guides but I use them religiously. In fact, I used the San Antonio one this weekend! I could have gone on for days about places to eat, drink, shop and stay in Dallas but tried to edit it to my absolute musts if you’re in the city. As an avid user of these guides I think it’s too over whelming to have too much and typically not enough time. Thus, I prefer the well edited list (I mean, it’s still plenty long and will keep you busy for a full weekend). As I say, we are super fortunate to have many great stores and admittedly the one thing I heavily edited was the restaurants only because it was getting so long and unless you live here I think you wouldn’t know where to begin. If you don’t live here you should know, we have some amazing food…if you ever need a food recommendation in addition to the guide just email me. I’m happy to throw out a few good ones. Also, super big thank you to sweet Grace for including me today in Sneak Peek of Best Offices!! Hope you all had a great holiday!

well, kinda… but the birds are chirpin’ yes? Just a quick post to share a little bird happiness with you. I am fortunate enough to office with the very talented Brad Oldham and last week he took seven birds to Santa Fe to their new home at the Wiford Gallery on Canyon Road. They are hand polished stainless steel and stand about 4′ tall and weigh 165lbs. Sweet little things aren’t they? Their backsides make a nice seat to relax on after a long day. A few more photos from their road trip and a sneak peak at Brad’s Acorn Chair below.

Happy Wednesday!

is it over yet

from-me-to-you1

i started out with all the best intentions… I was hoping to have a little post up of some sort by ya know noonish, a fairly productive day of turning in some FD articles, a little graphic design, a little interior finessing at Annie’s (my current decor project) but whoa mama. Here it is. 4:16 and I have had a mostly productive day but not with a lack of wrinkles and crazy. It was at about 2:00 when I hit my threshold of too much. Our sweet housekeeper, Mary, called to say “the dogs are in the house and I’m not sure if I should go in?” Yes, all four of them - Stella, Sophie, Kuma and Logo had busted in the door and PS - it’s raining here in Dallas so that means muddy crazy dogs running all through the house. Anyway - I decided I would still try to post and quickly stumbled upon this photo from The Sartorialist. How appropriate. And with a smile on my face I chose to share it with you. (Update: the dogs had a great time today!) Happy rainy Tuesday! Look for a more meaningful post tomorrow.

yes

it’s a wonderful life… We have been hustling and bustling all week…well for several really — and I love it all but I’m so glad to welcome Friday afternoon! Now if I can just figure out a way to stay cool… Couple of things - Patina Green opens this weekend in McKinney so check that out and there’s a fun “art + craft supply sale” via Etsy at Southside on Lamar.

Have a great weekend friends!!

in my wildest dreams

just in the nick of time… I almost missed it! Today was a crazy day and I’ve been trying all day to get to this post. A year ago today was the day my blog went live to the world. I had a few previous entries but made it live on June 8th and the first ever home tour (beside my own) was how I launched the blog. It was the home of Jamie and Larry Oliver…”some people are just born with it” - still one of my absolute favorites. I could never have imagined the changes in the last year would have ever come into my world. After many years of contemplation finally starting my own graphic design studio, writing for FD Luxe - my favorite local fashion publication (oh, and ps, I’m not a writer!), venturing into home decoration (and I’m not a decorator) and press? Crazy. And what’s shocking is it’s all as a result of the blog. The blog has allowed me to be so much more creative in other ways I never dreamed. It has pushed my life as an artist. I am so lucky and blessed. I have all of you who read my blog to thank. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support and comments. It keeps me going. I’m truly thankful for the sponsors of the blog. I’m very careful about who I partner with on the blog. I want all of the products to be something I would buy or somewhere I would shop. A very big thank you to to everyone who has supported me this year. Bless you all and may all of your wildest dreams come true. Lots of love and positive thoughts to each of you beautiful people!
