looks like a fantasy

kiss the next several minutes goodbye… It’s a dream world of a beautiful dusty mess of crazy (no seriously) creative and imaginative people. It’s bizarre and fascinating. I’ve heard about it for years from a friend of mine and saw that genius that is Erica Chan Coffman of Honestly WTF posted these sickly amazing photos by Hector Santizo. I can’t stop looking at them. If you aren’t familiar, Burning Man is a festival of 48,000 people in the desert for one week as a part of an experimental community. You HAVE GOT to check out these photos herehere and here.

I added a few more below but please do yourself a favor and check out Hector’s photos. Crazy awesome.

talisker

picture-4

i was giving recommendations… to a friend for Park City and this popped into my head from our visit last year. Talisker on Main is a restaurant on Main Street in PC and the first “public amenity” for the private club of Talisker. The photo above from the Talisker campaign pretty much captures the oh-it’s-so-good-to-be-me all american fairytale lifestyle of Talisker (and I mean that in the most positive way). Think Ralph Lauren vibe, warm cozy fires, the best cashmere, perfect weather winter or summer, tasty cocktails and good friends… you follow me? Well, if you just happen to be in Park City you should definitely treat yourself a little hot toddie and some delicious food at TOM. Photos of the restaurant below.

the house that gene (and charlotte) built

benches

i stole that line… from FD. You may or may not have heard but my little home town of Dallas (well, North Texas to be pc) is hosting the upcoming football extravaganza and all involved are counting down the moments. Hotels are filling up, vendors are scrambling (insert my excuse for lack of posting here), city officials and police are preparing for the invasion of thousands and trying to put the perfect finishing touches on all things SB XLV. With that said, the entire January issue of FD Luxe was dedicated to this first ever moment for DFW. I’m thrilled to share with you (a tad late but better than never!) the story on the details of the stadium you most likely haven’t read about. Two of the most incredible women I have ever known, Gene Jones and Charlotte Anderson put their finishing touches, blood, sweat and tears (no seriously) into every bit of the stadium to create what is truly an phenomenal place. I have tremendous respect for their appreciation and attention to design and style. It’s still a football stadium but totally transcends into an entertainment venue unlike any other you have ever been to. I’m a little biased, I know, but check it out here. I’m certain you will be surprised. Read the story so perfectly captured by the oh-so talented, funny and kind Christopher Wynn. A few little notes below from me but YOU MUST read CW’s take on it all and see all of Manny Rodriguez’s gorgeous photos, could anyone capture this more perfectly??? Genius, I tell you.

next house

the-house-hotel-nisantasi-yatzer-4

one of our little sayings… is “next house.” We are always looking and visiting places and seeing things we love and we always refer to putting aspects of them in our “next house.” Right now we live in a really cute little 1950’s house (which I have yet to share but will soon enough) but it’s super small and with four furry friends, even smaller. So I constantly struggle with what the next house will be as my style feels like an ever evolving whirlwind of the “of the moment” spirit - it’s a love/hate thing about myself. I LOVE all things modern but have a sweet spot for anything with history. We draw a lot of inspiration from hotels and I’m putting these two hotels in my style file, both are from The House Hotel collection in Turkey. Very old buildings, gutted and redone but gorgeously maintaining the integrity - check it out.

a little dose of sunshine please

leaves1

it was amazing, no seriously… A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. In December during the flurry of holidays, Bret’s show and the 16 days of giveaways, Bret and I snuck off to Riviera Maya for the weekend. I was trying to surprise him (unfortunately I blew it) but that’s how it all started out. I wanted a reasonable “all-inclusive” vacation that was quick, easy and SUNNY. It’s so overwhelming to me to book international travel of any kind so I called Arlene at Rudy Steele Travel who will forever now be on my speed dial/favorites on my cell. Here’s the thing about Arlene, my first time to work with her… I told her what I wanted and her response was we can do cheap and easy, it’s possible for sure but “I’m not going to put my stamp on it. I want you to know that I endorse where you go”. I respected that. So below,  you will find our magical, luxury all-inclusive vacation at Grand Velas Resort and Spa in Riviera Maya. DYING to go back.

I’m sure it’s cold where ever you are so I hope this brightens your chilly day! Have a great weekend!!
