pretty in porcelain

snailgirl1

shhh, listen… You might here the tiniest whisper of something curious and lovely! I was so excited when Jenny from Far4 in Seattle emailed me about their new like of porcelain plates if you talk to them…. These snowy white little lovelies are all designs based on a world of blissful make believe — girls walking on snails, riding a turkey and sitting on a grasshopper. This one is called “Brie and her snail“. You might remember when I posted about this wonderful store on my visit to Seattle last summer. It’s truly one of my favorite places in the city — chalked full of beautiful and mostly bizarre things like a porcelain machine gun or a tattooed baby. Just sayin’.

public school

tie22

just in case you missed it… kiddos are back in school, school supplies are bought, summer is over for teachers and homework is back in full swing this week. It’s sort of fun to think about going to back to school, I went to a convocation on Sunday and thought for the first time in a long time about being dropped off for college. Terrifying and exciting at the same time. I remember when I was younger getting a new “first to school” outfit. BIG DEAL. VERY important. Who knows why we cared sooo much?? Anyway - I thought it would be fun to focus this week on some good old school splendor. You might recognize this Public School poster from Joslyn’s house. I love this saying. How fitting for just about any situation, don’t you think?

animal love

lamb1

so darn cute… I can’t even STAND it! My parents had baby sheep for a short period of time (until they grew up of course). I loved them…they are like little puppy’s only more wooly and jumpy. This is a series of photographs conjured up by the genius photographer Sharon Montrose. You can BUY these. Yes, I know…panic! And if you can swing it there’s a large one of 30″ x 40″ — maybe not feasible for all of us but TDF yes?? Can you imagine a huge print of this on my wall?? I’m in love. Available via The Animal Print Shop and site design by Also. (who - ps- is also unbelievably genius)

market merriment

bath

as promised… Patina Green Home and Market! I met Kaci Lyford through one of my best frienda when we were hunting antiques in Roundtop last year. At the time she and her mom, Luann had an antique business focusing on antique fairs, a booth at White Elephant and another booth in downtown McKinney. All absolutely lovely. In March I saw her again and she was opening a new store in downtown McKinney with her mom and chef husband Robert. On June 26th, I attended the grand opening and was stunned. The store/market/flowershop was WAY more than I could have even imagined. Enjoy… **MAKE NOTE: The Patina Green crew is headed to Europe for their annual shopping trip from August 9-23. So run down this weekend before or check in with them mid September when the container arrives!**

all kinds of hot

56

newsflash… August is the H-O-T-T-E-S-T month in Texas. 100’s + all week…it’s pretty unbearable but lucky for us there is the miracle of air conditioning. Today the “Hot Issue” of FD hit the stands. It is a GREAT issue -jam packed full of info. I was lucky enough to work on four pieces: In the market - Patina Green, Animal Collective - product/trend roundup, Hot NonProfit -Dwell with Dignity, Hot Handout - Calling Cards by Missing Q Press. AND I am thrilled that I was mentioned as a Hot Moonlighter - Interior Consultants. (So excited! Thank you Tracy!!) Such an awesome issue of things to look forward to and check out but ps- it’s still hot. I love Christopher Wynn’s quote “Heat advisories and margaritas on the rocks with salt. Hello, August.” True that, my friend!

I will follow up with more photos and details on Patina Green ASAP. If you haven’t been yet, it’s AH-mazing. Stay tuned…
