newsflash… August is the H-O-T-T-E-S-T month in Texas. 100’s + all week…it’s pretty unbearable but lucky for us there is the miracle of air conditioning. Today the “Hot Issue” of FD hit the stands. It is a GREAT issue -jam packed full of info. I was lucky enough to work on four pieces: In the market - Patina Green, Animal Collective - product/trend roundup, Hot NonProfit -Dwell with Dignity, Hot Handout - Calling Cards by Missing Q Press. AND I am thrilled that I was mentioned as a Hot Moonlighter - Interior Consultants. (So excited! Thank you Tracy!!) Such an awesome issue of things to look forward to and check out but ps- it’s still hot. I love Christopher Wynn’s quote “Heat advisories and margaritas on the rocks with salt. Hello, August.” True that, my friend!
I will follow up with more photos and details on Patina Green ASAP. If you haven’t been yet, it’s AH-mazing. Stay tuned…

hooray… Today my American Idol aka Grace (we all want to be her best friend, don’t we?) posted the Dallas Design Guide that I helped her update a few months back. I don’t know if you all use the d*s city guides but I use them religiously. In fact, I used the San Antonio one this weekend! I could have gone on for days about places to eat, drink, shop and stay in Dallas but tried to edit it to my absolute musts if you’re in the city. As an avid user of these guides I think it’s too over whelming to have too much and typically not enough time. Thus, I prefer the well edited list (I mean, it’s still plenty long and will keep you busy for a full weekend). As I say, we are super fortunate to have many great stores and admittedly the one thing I heavily edited was the restaurants only because it was getting so long and unless you live here I think you wouldn’t know where to begin. If you don’t live here you should know, we have some amazing food…if you ever need a food recommendation in addition to the guide just email me. I’m happy to throw out a few good ones. Also, super big thank you to sweet Grace for including me today in Sneak Peek of Best Offices!! Hope you all had a great holiday!

well, let’s be honest… any vintage silk scarf will do really but Hermes is my obsession of the moment. I think it started somewhere back when I saw these pillows at Leslie’s last year but the more I’m decorating the more I’m finding that good pillows are hard to come by and especially those with a reasonable price tag (and no, I’m not saying Hermes is reasonable). I did however find a few on ebay (there’s even a guide about how to avoid fakes!…serious) and I stumbled upon various other sites that weren’t toooooo bad. I also found this great post from Apartment Therapy in the midst of my wishful thinking. I just love how interesting all of their scarves are and the graphic nature of the way the elements in the designs are pulled together. Sigh, but for now with four sweet furry friends at home I will have to just enjoy them vicariously through clients that are sans puppies or online. I pulled a few samples below of several Hermes scarves that would make great pillows.

i know, i know…that sounds like an oxymoron coming from me but lately I’m inspired by lots of intense color and seem to keep trying to incorporate it in (gently of course) into my world. Last night I spray painted a chair neon pink with graffiti. I don’t know what’s gotten into me! So, this weekend I was on a rare Saturday shop-a-thon with my best friend and we went into Another Time and Place. I have been in before but it didn’t quite ring home for me like it does now. It’s a gold mine of goodness folks! Think Elle Decor here people…all kinds of imported tapestries, jewelry, home goods. The Knox location is the original and is closing down so the owner can focus on his newest project, a hotel in Turkey! A little sad but lucky for us everything in the store is HALF OFF…not to worry there are still two locations here that will remain open but I’m saying, run, don’t walk because there are deals and treasures to be had.
Happy Monday!

national treasure… Warning: this is going to be opulence and beauty overload of heavenliness. A few weeks ago I went to a SFERRA event at Ceylon et Cie to see Ronda Carman of All the Best blog and had the pleasure of finally meeting Michelle Nussbaumer for the first time. Michelle is a Dallas-based designer and is a true rockstar on an international level. She was just featured on 1st Dibs Style Compass, you must read it here. Fascinating. Ceylon et Cie is her store in the Design District but is open to the public and every drop of it is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The store is open to the public so please - go in, indulge yourself. You will LOVE.
Have a GREAT long holiday weekend!!
