how fun… a while back Gillian Stevens from Dewdrop ordered several paintings from The Summer Project and then asked if I wanted to be featured in an online “show” on the “In Our Travels” section. So for one week only (until next Tuesday!!) a few select Summer Project paintings will be available on Dewdrop here for $50 less than they are on The Summer Project (Fun, right?!). See below for a few of the gorgeous paper products that I also just LOVE from Dewdrop.
Enjoy and thank you Gillian!

just a quick glimpse… in case you missed it. I of course at the last minute decided I couldn’t just hang the artwork and brought in a ton of shades of white furniture and lucite galore. I just couldn’t help myself. Had to “style/SWOON” it up as we say around my house. Thank you to everyone who came and a VERY big thank you to Manny Rodriguez. It was a great evening and thus NEW The Summer Project PAINTINGS ARE UP FOR SALE today! YAY! I know the pink has been hot, hot, hot so there are a few for ya! Very excited to report that there are several LARGE ones and diptychs which I love. I think it’s so cool how they sort of flow from one to the other and I like the idea of pairing cool colors. It is hard to show them on the home page but I put them first (please forgive the Big Cartel size restrictions!). I may be taking a little hiadus after this launch success so just FYI :) I won’t likely continue posting every four weeks. Fall is going to busy but The Summer Project will keep going. I am having too much fun.
Hope this finds you well and have a great week!! More photos and a few of my new favorite paintings below.

it’s shaping up to be a busy fall y’all… I’m super sad to see summer go but there’s so much to look forward to this fall so stay tuned. First up, (still technically in summer) the most-wonderful-dripping-with-talent photo genius, Manny Rodriguez, has asked me to participate in his “Mojito Madness” Fridays which are once a month featuring a local artist and benefiting a charity. How fun yes?! I thought so. So if you would…
PLEASE JOIN US Friday August 26, 7:30ish at 100 Parkhouse in Dallas. I will be showing all new pieces from The Summer Project (and larger scale!), proceeds will go to benefit pancan.org in honor of Scott Raffe. Scott’s beautiful work will also be on display. If you would like to join us please rsvp to me at sam{at}styleswoon.com
A couple more dates below you better be sure to put on your fall checklist!! Read the rest of this entry »

12 new paintings… found their way to the site this weekend and are up for sale at the summer project. The first series went really well and all of the Boerne series sold out. With that and other requests for it (and it just so happens to be my fav) I have done most of these in that spirit and Arbor Hill. Several of them could be really cool paired together to as great complimenting colors. I also CAN’T SEEM TO GET ENOUGH blush color in life (been buying clothes, shoes, you name it - it’s feminine yet not sweet, love that) so I’ve done a couple nude/blushy ones that I think could look great with a the deep blue of Boerne. Oh yeah, and HOT PINK. Hope you enjoy!

super excited… and a little nervous to share with you today my latest project. I’ve been painting with watercolor and doing calligraphy lately for work and the blog. When I work on interior projects I often paint my own artwork… sometimes really small just to put on a book shelf or something but I do it all the time and never really think much of it. It’s fun and I get exactly what I want for a reasonable budget. I’m BIG on original art but it’s tough to find affordable options. Thank goodness for Etsy! I have a really hard time buying anything from a big box retailer (confession I have bought a couple of things from West Elm) but as a general rule I prefer original art, photography or limited edition screen prints.
I ran into one of my dear friends the other day, Shelle, that I went to art school with. She told me she had started painting again. Thus I was inspired by Shelle and The Ultimate Summer to dive in, just for fun. Then I thought “what am I going to do with all of this stuff”? Thus my idea was born. For the past few weeks I’ve been painting, drawing, styling, photographing and setting up a Big Cartel site to sell the artwork — all for the summer project (which is now live and ready for you to shop). Yay! Names are all people, places and degrees of temperature (and yes my car did say 118° at one point - Texas heat y’all).
More to come in weeks ahead… First batch of 24 paintings available here. I hope you enjoy. If nothing else, I’m having fun!
