all grown up

and now all lit up… I feel so fortunate to get to drive passed downtown every day on my way to work and take in the skyline. Being up close to a city skyline invigorates me and ours gives me pride in our city. Last year a new site to see and be in awe of began to emerge, the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, designed from the brilliant mind of Spanish architect and sculptor Santiago Calatrava. I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Yesterday evening the gorgeous bridge was “unveiled” via a lighting ceremony (tough to conceal a bridge).

finally… the sneak peek I promised you of the work we collaborated with the Dallas Museum of Art on via the SWOON,the studio blog written by the oh-so clever Kevin:

“the rebels new wardrobe… French born haute couture fashion designer, Jean Paul Gaultier, has always been a rebellious voice in fashion — not shy to explore any and all taboos. He creates thematic juxtaposition with both grace and brashness. For the inaugural American stop on the international tour, we were asked by the DMA to create the exhibition graphics. What a visually creative treat to be able to pull from such a conceptually rich artist — Jean Paul Gaultier. Each room within the exhibit is a themed collection from his retrospective. We will take you through the signage we designed for each room below. Also, If you haven’t seen this visually arresting and inspiring show yet (tisk, tisk) it is running through February 12. Get to it!”

slow down

picture_5

i know we all feel like this… (pot meet kettle - as I write this post!!) between checking our favorite blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Netflix, On Demand, Texting addictions we sometimes miss the moment we are in, slow down and have a few minutes of quiet. Brilliant photographer, Allison V. Smith retweeted this NY Times article “The Joy of Quiet” and it’s a must read. As much as I LOVE and covet the endless inspiration I find in the digital world this is all so true. Even just a little break is precious right? I hope it doesn’t come to the consequences of this article but if it did there are SO many days I would take it.

Cheers to a little less in 2012 and happy Friday friends! Hope you take time to breathe deep and smell the roses this weekend - away from all things electronic. xo

PS - aren’t you LOVING this poster from The Neighborhood Studio?? Available here.
